Just like every year since the last decade, Celebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) which takes the lives of inhabitants of Northern Ghana has once again since the beginning of this year led to the death of thirty four (34) people out of two hundred and fourteen (214) cases in Upper West which continues to worry health workers.
In order to help fight it, Hajia Humu Awudu, 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party for Wa Central has made a donation of 300 units of Ceftriaxone injection to the Regional Health Directorate.
Hajia Humu pledge whose donation was carried out by some officials of the New Patriotic Party says she will continue to prioritise healthcare and initiatives that will gear towards quality healthcare delivery in the Wa Central Constituency and Upper West Region as a whole.
The donation gladdened the heart of the Upper West Regional Director of Ghana Health Services, Dr. Osei Kuffour Afreh to describe the benevolence as a “game changer”.
He also described as timely the donation of the antibiotics saying it will go a long way to support the many patients in the various health facilities. In order to further expatriate on the importance of the donation , the director said the regional health directorate has earlier on pleaded with the headquarters to support the Region to curb the meningitis.
Dr. Afreh said the same seriousness that is been used in fighting the COVID-19 should be extended to cerebrosinal meningitis (CSM).
