WA. UWR – JDM PROMISE TO BOOST YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN AGRICULTURE

The Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has said he will make agriculture very attractive to the youth if given the nod.

The Former president indicated that, he will modernise agriculture through the provision of small farming equipment that will make farming easy and attractive to young people. He was was speaking at Wechieu in Wa West District as part of his four day tour of the Upper West Region.

“I will provide jobs for young people through improving agribusiness by making available to them, small equipment or machines that will enable young agribusiness entrepreneurs to process raw materials for the market.”

According to him, the enormous lack of interest by the youth in agriculture is due to the lack of farm machines and the greater use of back breaking energy to thill the land.

He further noted that, improved seeds and tree seedlings will be supplied to the youth for planting to replace the trees being fell for charcoal and also to check climate change.

John Dramani Mahama said, this will be done as part of the the big push and one million Jobs for the youth in Ghana. Adding that, the second coming of JDM will see to it that no one will left behind.
